Ibiza's Countryside Welcomes a New Farmhouse Retreat

A freshly reimagined rural escape has opened its doors in the heart of Ibiza. Nestled in the tranquil village of Santa Gertrudis, this thoughtfully restored farmhouse blends local heritage with relaxed Mediterranean design, offering a serene hideaway surrounded by olive groves and natural beauty.

Authentic Architecture with a Modern Soul

The renovation honors the original character of the traditional Spanish finca. Instead of reshaping the existing structure, the design retains its essential features; terracotta floors, exposed timber beams, and thick whitewashed walls form the foundation. The approach embraces the warmth and spirit of the island while introducing new layers of comfort and design.

Farmhouse Design Rooted in Place

Drawing inspiration from Ibiza’s agrarian past, the project incorporates the essence of a working farmhouse. Whitewashed facades, low-profile roofs, and stone masonry reflect the local architecture. Spanning roughly 2,246 square meters, the retreat includes a central house, a three-bedroom annex, two private villas, and various communal spaces including a club, restaurant, bar, boutique, library, and wellness zone.

Natural Interiors with a Balearic Touch

Inside, the color palette and textures mirror Ibiza’s raw beauty. Wooden furniture, handpicked antiques, and soft lighting create a calming atmosphere. Vintage glassware, local artisan lighting, silk rugs, and natural materials like rattan and leather add tactile richness without overwhelming the space. The design remains subtle, grounded, and connected to the island’s cultural landscape.

Rooms Designed for Island Living

Bedrooms are quiet sanctuaries, filled with references to seasonal life and local craftsmanship. Earthy greens and sun-warmed oranges complement the natural wood throughout. Each room is designed with the climate in mind; linen fabrics, ceiling fans, shutters, and drink freezers ensure comfort during warm days and cool nights.

Textured Comfort in Wellness Spaces

Bathrooms and wellness areas continue the theme of quiet luxury. Hand-applied plaster walls and smoked terracotta floors offer tactile depth. Wooden vanities, carved with traditional lattice patterns, recall Ibizan basket-making. Across the spa, yoga deck, gym, and treatment huts, the materials remain consistent—durable, soft, and deeply integrated with the architecture.

Art with a Balearic Pulse

A curated art collection featuring over seventy works by twenty-one artists gives the farmhouse an additional layer of meaning. The pieces are created by those who live in or have deep ties to the Balearics. Highlights include Adriana Meunié’s woven tapestries, Stefan Brüggemann’s golden paintings, and Natalie Rich’s ceiling installation made of 200+ handcrafted elements. Outdoors, a towering sculpture and a looping light projection animate the garden with stories drawn from local folklore.
